Adventure Holidays: My Top Five

While many may like to spend time on the beach or visiting a series of monuments during their holiday, I personally prefer something a little more fast-paced. As an adrenaline junkie, I have had the pleasure of partaking in a number of exciting holiday destinations that really put adventure holidays on the map. However, there is always a new experience to be had, and moving forward, I would really like to experience the following adventure holidays.

2CV Rallying, Spain

The Silver Road Rally does for the Citroen 2CV what ‘The Italian Job’ did for the Mini, in that it pushes an iconic car to its very limits. Fear not, this is no great escape with the police in tow as seen in ‘The Italian Job,’ but that doesn’t make it any less exciting.

The route runs from Gijon to Seville, and to attend the event and cover travel and accommodation, interested parties can expect to pay around £1,250.00. A great investment for those looking to add some extra excitement to their travels.

Mountain Trekking, Iraq-Kurdistan

Although Iraq may seem rich for even the biggest of adrenaline junkies, Kurdistan is based within the North and is deemed safe for tourists, although travellers should check the news before confirming any bookings.

Not only are visitors treated to natural beauty such dramatic waterfalls, but they will be introduced to a number of animals, including lynx and brown bears.

Canyoning, the Azores

The Azores is based in the Atlantic and consists of rugged landscapes natural wonder. A number of providers partner adrenaline-fueled activities such as jumping into pools and abseiling down waterfalls.

As well as the activities on offer, canyoning is where the Azores really comes to life. The volcanic landscape that the Azores offers is perfect canyoning terrain.

Extreme Survival, United Kingdom

Sometimes the thrills and spills you seek aren’t too far from your front door, and with survival programmers becoming more and more popular, there has been a sudden surge in popularity in extreme survival-based holidays.

This five-day survival course sees attendees learn a series of survival skills while based on an island within the Scottish Highlands. Those who like the thought of wild camping may like to arrange their own survival trip, as Scotland is the only place in the UK where wild camping is legal.

Surfing, Mozambique

Surfing has something of a reputation when it comes to adventure holidays, and where better to enjoy this adrenaline-fueled activity than on a long white beach matched with turquoise water filled with coral and exotic fish.

There are a number of deals available, that can include extra activities such diving with whale sharks and dune driving. There are also a number of campsites and bungalows by the sea for those who wish to travel independently and visit the established surf beaches.

Adventure holidays offer more than a break, they offer a completely new experience within amazing and beautiful surroundings, giving you more than enough opportunity to take some truly memorable photographs.
