Captain Walt is a 52-year-old guy who paid his dues with daily commutes on congested city asphalt, making big money (for his boss) as a computer programmer, while stifling his own dreams, but who finally decided that life did exist outside the corporate cube and took the BIG RISK by buying a small yacht and learning everything he could about life on the water. The break came when the company for which he worked and had invested a little money, was sold for a hefty $10M, quadrupling everyone's investment. That gave the corporate coolie the cash he needed to follow his dreams. Now, instead of just staring at the seaside picture that hung in his office, he wakes up each day to the sights and sounds of the lowcountry saltwater marsh and thanks the good Lord above that dreams can come true.
Captain Walt's adventure began as a sabatical... Well, that was the stated intent anyway. The idea was to cruise the East Coast and the Bahammas, then go back to work... Right! Give this up? Are you crazy?? No way! So the good captain studied hard and became a Captain (USCG OUPV) then a Master (licensed for inspected vessels up to 50 tons). Along the way, he made good friends with Michael Neal and began doing eco-tours for Michael with his boat, the Island Explorer.
You did notice that the captain only invested a little money. Big
mistake. Oh well, his mistake is your opportunity. Had he struck it rich, he
probably wouldn't be sharing his dream with strangers, but then he wouldn't
have met so many wonderful people and shared so many fantastic experiences.
Turns out that the shy computer programmer actually enjoys playing host,
cooking, cleaning, and showing people a great time on the water. He looks
forward to sharing his dream and the beauty of the low country marshes,
barrier islands and the entire ICW with you.
