Captain Walt's Education Services
Captain Walt also loves to teach! One of his favorite courses is called, "Introduction to Boating on the Intracoastal Waterway", which he designed and teaches for the Continuing Ed Program at Armstrong Atlantic State University. Contact the school for details (912) 927-5379 or (912) 927-5322. Please sign up. It will be a lot more fun with you there! (No tests, no pressure!) Have a small or large group that would like to learn more about our local ecology? Captain Walt can give "dock talks" at the marina, or even come to your facility for a program of learning. Captain Walt is also a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. This is a great group of folks who volunteer their time to assist the Coast Guard in their various missions. One such mission is to educate the public about boating safety and seamanship. There are several courses the Auxiliary teaches and Capt. Walt helps out with several of these classes as well. For information on Boating Safety, Boating Skills and Seamanship, or Coastal Navigation contact Kent Shockey at (912) 398-5474. Captain Walt has recognized a great need among the boating public for hands-on instruction. Families buying their first boat or stepping up to larger vessels are often intimidated by the daunting task of docking in these waters with strong currents and winds. So Captain Walt has designed a Hands-On Boating Instructions Course with these needs in mind. You can arrange for 4 hours of private instruction in your boat or his. Learn the theory, then applying it under the supervision of a licensed captain. |
